“If There’s One Thing I’ve Learned…is that (most of the time) if someone contacts you for a new project and doesn’t talk about money in the first email something is wrong…very wrong.”

“Money isn’t obviously the main thing that pushes illustrators to pursue an artistic career but it’s extremely important that your work is always recognised and paid for its value! If someone wants to hire you but isn’t willing to pay the right price for your illustrations is not doing you any favours, is taking advantage of you, especially if you’re young and inexperienced.”

“I know it’s hard to say no to a project (especially if you have bills to pay) but in order to make a living as an illustrator, you should always try to consider carefully which project is really going to help you as a professional.”
